Dear colleagues &
friends,
O n behalf of the Organizing Committee, we have the immense pleasure of
inviting you to the heart of India, the citadel of power oozing with history
– the city of Delhi, for the 36th National Conference of the Indian
Association of Medical Microbiologists. Lady Hardinge Medical College
situated in the center of Delhi will be hosting this mega event during 22nd
to 25th November 2012. The theme for the conference is "Clinical
Microbiology: Current Challenges & Future Directions". It will indeed be
a memorable & exciting November weekend to deliberate upon the latest
developments in the field of Medical Microbiology.
The Conference will bring together the pioneers in their respective fields.
It will provide opportunities for junior scientists and post graduate
students to present their work and exchange ideas and experiences with
National & International experts in the field.
LHMC was the first college founded in India in 1914 for training of only
women undergraduate students in Medicine. This overcame the orthodox
thinking prevailing in contemporary India of educating women in
co-educational colleges. The college spread over 60 acres of land, extends
between the old and new cities of Delhi located in Connaught Place.
The First National Congress of Medical Microbiologists was hosted by LHMC on
December 26 & 27, 1977 under the able guidance of Late Dr K B Sharma, the
then Head of Department of Microbiology and one of the chief architects of
the IAMM. The 36th National Conference in November 2012 by Lady Hardinge
Medical College, New Delhi will be an attempt to carry forward the rich
legacy left by the pioneers.
